Mexico trip

Today, I’ll tell you about one of my trips and this trip was to Mexico. I cannot say that I really wanted to visit this country. You know all these stereotypes about Mexico that it is a poor country, full of cacti and everything like that. And surely tequila. Well… I tried tequila, but this was far from the most important thing for me in Mexico. Perhaps the most important thing is Mexican nature.

I had enough time to travel around the country and see all its beauty. And yeah, it’s not only desert and cacti, although there are lots of them as well. My first point was Mexico City but when I learned that they have a park called Aktun Chen, I decided to take an extra vacation so that I had the opportunity to visit the park, which is about one and a half thousand kilometers away from the capital. To visit the park I decided to stay in Cancun for a few days. The distance from Cancun to Aktun Chen is about 62 miles. I traveled all that distance by car, which I rented in Mexico City. Perhaps some of you may think that such a trip is not worth it – why is it worth traveling in the desert by car? Yes, maybe you are right, but I have never had such a trip and I wanted to try something unusual and in the end I did not regret. On the way, I met wonderful people who turned out to be very friendly and hospitable. Along the way, I had to stop at a small motel because the 930 miles long road took about 18 hours and I certainly wanted to rest a little from driving. Fortunately I rented very comfortable car. It was Toyota Camri. With it I had rather comfortable trip.  To my surprise, the owner of the motel had a good command of English so that I had no problems with communication. The next day by the afternoon I finally got to Cancun where I booked the hotel. Oh! I didn’t tell you about Mexico City!  Well first things first. But as I said it was still a business trip. The company reserved for me a hotel in the heart of the city. Surely it was not the best hotel in which I stayed, but the room was well equipped so I had everything I needed. The city is very big. Much bigger than you imagine it and it is very green. There are many separate trees and parks. And for Mexico it is very important because the climate in the country is very hot and parks are a great opportunity to relax in the shade, for example, at lunchtime. And I forgot to say that in summer, of course, it is better not to go to Mexico – it is actually very hot there. It was winter and I enjoyed almost perfect the weather – it was not too cold and not hot. As I said, Mexico City is quite a big city, but there are not so many tourist routes there. Surely, you can take a bus tour around the city, you can walk in the center, but all these excursions will take you only two or three days. Fortunately, I completed my business affairs in the city pretty quickly. And as I said, I went to Cancun. If anyone does not know this is the largest city of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Aktun Chen is three or four hours away from it. So I booked a hotel for a couple of days in Cancun. So I manged to spend a few days on the beach and spend one day in Aktun Chen. I will say right away that 1 day is surely not enough. The park occupies a huge area and offers a variety of entertainments. If you are traveling with children feel free to take them. For them, the park will be a real paradise. It seems to me that the most interesting for them will be zipline.

This is a kind of cable car with the only difference that you ain’t in the booth, but flying like a bird over an abyss fastened to a rope. For adult this attraction will be a great fun either. Sounds tempting right? But surely the impressions that I had from the attraction cannot be expressed in words. But if you think that your health in this attraction is exposed to a danger then you are mistaken. Park staff pays a lot of attention to safety and before each trip you are instructed. I, too, for quite a long time was explained which position I should take and how to attach the carbine correctly. But it seemed to me all intuitively simple. So I dare to assure you that you will get the most out of your vacation on zipline. What else can be found in the park? Of course, the caves. They are known all over the world and naturally I could not pass by them. Once in the cave you’re like falling into another world. If you think that there is total darkness, you are deeply mistaken. In some places there are large holes in the ceiling through which the sun peeps. Even grass grows in these places.

Unfortunately, I managed to spend only one day in this wonderful park. It somehow reminded me of Yellowstone Park.

No doubt Yellowstone is much larger. That’s true! and the nature there is completely different. But still it is nice that the Mexicans, too, want to preserve the wilderness in their country and pay great attention to environmental protection. Actually, this is very important! Especially for a country like Mexico, most of which is covered with desert. That’s why it’s all the more pleasant to meet such a green corner in the middle of the sand-dunes. In total, I spent 5 days in Cancun. Surely I also wanted to lie in the sun and swim in the sea.

Moreover, on the sea I had an opportunity to try scuba diving. I received a lot of impressions and emotions from this immersion. I’ve never experienced anything like this before. In general, it seems to me that the beaches of Cancun are the best in the world. If you open the pictures of these beaches on the Internet, they will seem like pictures from some Paradise island. This is actually the case. On these beaches, I found everything I saw in these pictures – white sand and very clean sea. Every time I dived I saw small fish. Of course you can see them much better when you scuba dive.

But as it often happens, the time passed very quickly and finally I had to return to New York for work. My Mexican business vacation trip was over. After the sea, it was especially difficult to get used to the metropolis. During all the next week I felt very relaxed and constantly wanted to sleep. But the most important thing is the emotions that I received from this trip, as is the case with all other trips.
